About Us
Camden Area Family History Society Inc. was established in 1996 as a self-funded non-profit organisation for the benefit of all who are interested in researching their family history. The Society’s aim is to promote the local family history and heritage of Camden and its residents, and to provide assistance on all aspects of family history research. Our volunteers can help you with family history whether it is within the Camden Area, or elsewhere in Australia or overseas.
Our Society operates a research room in the Camden library complex, where we have gathered a considerable amount of resources and information. We endeavour to provide a friendly atmosphere in which our members can help each other and be of assistance to others in the community, while encouraging the general public to come in and learn more about Camden, and how to research their own family history.
Our Research Room
Our Research Room is located in Camden’s historic precinct where it is part of the Camden Library / Museum Complex. Our resources provide an ideal start for anyone starting out in Family History Research as well as experienced researchers.
Our Research Rooms are Open Thursday, Friday & Saturday from 11.00am – 2.00pm.
Please remember the research Rooms are staffed by Volunteers, therefore these opening hours may vary. It is best to arrange a time to come in if you are making a special trip to do Research. Please contact the Society via our email address cafhs2570@gmail.com if you intend to visit our rooms, so we can ensure a volunteer is available to assist you.
Meetings
We hold monthly meetings on the 1st Tuesday of the month, with the exception of January. Meetings are held in the Camden Museum at 40 John Street, Camden commencing at 7.00pm. A light supper is held at the completion of the meeting. All are welcome to attend. Annual General Meeting – Our AGM is held in August each year followed by our normal Monthly Meeting.
